Preparation for wedding in South Korea

It will be my second time that I will visit South Korea. First visit happened last year when I met my husband’s parents and visited winter Olympics. This year the main reason for my travel is for me even bigger than Olympics. We are getting married in Korea!
For Slovenian language press here.

Wedding dress
I browsed million websites and visited few wedding salons to find the dress which makes me feel well with. I wanted to get something classy but also convenient and comfortable to hold my daughter who will be 9 months old at that time. I was quite surprised how much I enjoyed the fitting and selecting dresses. It was very unique time which I never imagined before that I will accompanied by my daughter, who turned out to be a person with very precise taste. At the end I bought a white dress in Slovenia and in Korea I will probably also wear Korean traditional dress hanbok.

Wedding location
The wedding ceremony will be happening outside at my husband’s family property in Gyeongju city. Their family house is a Korean traditional noble house hanok and is listed as premium hanok accommodation certified by Ministry of Culture, Sport and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization. Hanokstay means that tourists and visitors can stay at their home while they travel around. Their house is around 450 years old.

Bureaucratic challenges and official documents
Before we leave, I have to prepare a large range of papers and documents which me and my daughter need in Korea. Most of the documents are in Slovenian and they need to be translated or even legally verified. Not very amusing part of the wedding preparation.

Organization and invitations for wedding guests
My husband is in daily touch with his parents as they coordinate things with wedding organizers. It is expected to be around 500-800 guests on the wedding from his side. As an introvert I have no idea how I will deal with it but I am glad there will be also my parents, brother and closest friends from Slovenia, China and France.

Pre-wedding photography
We are thinking to make a pre-wedding photography in Slovenia. If I succeed to arrange my dress and shoes on time, we will consider Bled as a photo location. It is quite well known also among Koreans and it sounds a bit of luxurious destination. But first we also need to agree about photographer and photo style. There is a slightly difference between what kind of photos I like and what my husband prefers.
